Today is the 193rd birthday of Herman Melville! Here’s a brief list of some cool things I’ve seen on the net today. Most importantly, they reflect what an impact Moby Dick has had on our culture for the last century. If you’ve yet to dig into this grand epic, today is a great day to start. And, in case you missed it, here’s my blog post with video and pictures from the whale watch I was blessed to go on in June.
*Special thanks to Cynthia for the great link this morning and a world of thanks to Dennis for introducing me to the great white whale.*

Hi, It’s always good for a serious Melville fan to discover another. I also enjoyed the whale watch video. I often allude to or quote Melville on my blog, as in the tribute to Gore Vidal. I’m also working on a novel about Melville. I’m intrigued by your myth inquiry, so I subscribed.
Hi Kevin! Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed my video. It was such a spectacular day! Thanks for subscribing. Hope you enjoy future post. Pleased to meet another Melville fan as well.
I hope to post an in-person whale watch video on my “memory screen” someday soon. I’m relatively new to blog “community building” so FYI my blog is Culture Currents (Vernaculars Speak) at http://www.kevernacular.com. Good luck with your PhD!
