This week, Nathan Fillion celebrated his 41st b.day with Charity: Water, “a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. 100% of public donations directly fund water projects.” I was deeply struck by this video included on the website:

And I hope you are too! Following Fillion’s footsteps, I would like to ask for donations in lieu of gifts for my b.day. The fabulously famous Fillion has already raised over $50,000. Amazing!!!  I’m setting what I believe to be a realistic goal for me: $1,000. I may not have his following, but if each of my Facebook friends and Twitter followers donated even TWO DOLLARS, I could reach this goal!!! This could impact fifty individuals in need, as every $20 raised can give one person access to a clean water project.

This is a serious matter.

It needs our attention.
